4.0 out of 5 stars Very solid cooler, with two minor flaws, March 29, 2010
This review is from: Coleman 75-Quart Xtreme 5-Day Wheeled Cooler (Sports)
I returned a handle shedding MaxCold 60 Roller for this fine Coleman cooler, and I'm very happy with the Coleman.

The side handles are molded into the shell, which completely removes the anchor failure mode many other coolers can suffer. The handles are large enough to offer a solid grip, yet are recessed enough to avoid becoming a cargo loading issue. The 6" wheels roll easily with a load. The rear handle is very rugged and comfortable to use. I haven't tested the cooler's ability to meet its 5 Day/90F claim, but I believe it will insulate as well as any cooler in its class.

I tested the cooler in a local W store by having a 110 lb companion sit on the lid. I didn't note any serious lid flex. I picked the cooler up by the side handles and they worked very well, with no discernable flexing. I should note that the squarish design of the cooler makes side handle use less awkward, as your arms aren't spread as wide as they would be when picking up a more... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars COLD --- very long time SEE COMPARISON, June 4, 2011
This review is from: Coleman 75-Quart Xtreme 5-Day Wheeled Cooler (Sports)
_______________________________COLEMAN vs IGOO__________________________________________

We put cold drinks in the Coleman Extreme 5 and an Igloo Ice Cube 60 with ice and bottled/canned drinks.

Coleman is a bit larger and wider - which came in handly to store a wide food tray (with food) for the way home

The Coleman has a better wheel design: climb stairs better

The Coleman: The next day (stored in a heated house) the Coleman had ice cubes in it and the drinks were icy cold.
The Igloo: the ice was melted drinks were cool but not really cold.

OVERALL -- the Coleman is a better cooler but is larger which may not be handy for smaller need applications.

ADVISE: before storing, wipe clean with wet rag first (dipped rag in water with 10% bleach solution) then dry with dry towel. Cleaning well - ensures the cooler remains clean and smells fresh.

I have a smaller 62 qt. Coleman Extreme and it performs better than this 75 qt. Meaning it holds ice much closer to the 5 day claim. The lid on this cooler is much thinner than the traditional rectangular cooler which I believe is the cause for ice melting much quicker. We recently camped for six days and needed to replenish the ice after two. The cooler was well shaded in temps around high 60's but the ice still melted rather quickly.

Pros: I like the shape and size of this cooloer. It's square design allows for easier lifting because your arms are closer together than with a rectangular cooler. I like the way the lid stays open and rests against the retractable pull handle, and is also easy to move around.

Cons: Ice melts quicker than it claims, compared to my traditional 62 qt. Coleman Extreme.

Overall I'm happy with it, but wish it kept ice longer.
