I just purchased the 50 quart cooler and still have ice in the cooler after 3 days. Most of the ice has melted; however, there is still a lot left. I expect to have ice in the cooler by at least tomorrow afternoon (4 days). The outside temperature has ranged anywhere from 90F down to 68F at night. I really like the cooler; however, it is definitely a luxury item. Unless you seriously need a great cooler, I wouldn't recommend that you buy a Yeti. However, if you do have the money and you want a really awesome cooler that could possibly last a lifetime, a Yeti or Engel is probably the way to go. We mostly use our cooler for soccer trips and family camping and canoe trips - works great for us but definitely not a must have. Hope this helps!!

Chill the cooler down first. I use two 1/2 gallon plastic containers filled with water and then frozen. Then, I add about 1/2 cup of salt to the containers. This lowers the freezing/melting point enough to frost the outside of the containers.
When I get ready to pack the cooler, I remove these 2 containers and replace them with 4 just like it (with the salt added) but fresh out of the freezer. Then I pack the cooler. Two 1/2 gallon containers on each side of the cooler will keep items cold, really cold, for more than 3 days. Note, this is for the 120-quart model, not the 45 qt.
Also, I bought a little fan that runs on D batteries. It circulates the air inside of the cooler--it's worth the money.
Great cooler. I'll buy another but smaller. Maybe the 45qt one.
