He received one after having knee surgery about 8 years ago, courtesy of our insurance company. It was a godsend, providing cold and compression without me having to run back and forth to the freezer. No messy condensation, the icy cold water often lasts longer than the 8 hours promised, and the cuff provides coverage of a much larger area than any ice pack ever could. This time around, our insurance company said the Cryo-cuff was a "luxury item" and that we would have to pay $300 out of pocket to get one. Found it here on Amazon for less than half that price. If you or a loved one are having knee surgery or have any type of knee injury, the Cryo-cuff is an absolute necessity. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful ![]() By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Aircast Cryo Cuff Knee System with Cooler - Large (20" - 31") - A24781 03 I'm now in week three from my ACL repair and have been using the cryo cuff for just about a week. I read about it online and purchased one with my own money, since it isn't covered by my insurance. It is worth every penny! I have one of the large ice packs, but it is good only for maybe 30 minutes before needing to go back to the freezer. With this I can ice my knee for hours. The only thing that took me a while to figure out is needing to cycle the water. I handle this by moving the bucket from up high (above the knee) to below the knee. This causes all the water to exit the cuff, cycle with the ice and then you move it back up high. ![]() By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Aircast Cryo Cuff Knee System with Cooler - Large (20" - 31") - A24781 03 Needed to ice my knee for 3 straight days following an arthroscopic knee surgery (for meniscus tear).Decided to spend the extra money so I don't need to "run" to the freezer to change ice-packs. This item is a blessing... You refill the cooler with water to the mark, add ice and cover with an insulating disk. Then, you connect the tube to the cuff and lift the cooler above you leg to let the ice-water flow to the cuff. Every half hour, you lower the cooler below the leg and open the air vent to let the warm water flow back to the cooler. Then, you shake the cooler to cool the water again and lift it above your leg to refill. You can keep the hose connected to the cuff or disconnect it with the quick connect. When you disconnect the hose, a bit of water drips out of the connector so you need to have a rag to wipe it off. Every 5 hours or so, I had to pour some water out and add ice. This product kept my knee cold with minimum effort. I even set... Read more |
